Creator terms
Last updated October 31, 2026
Share a design to the gallery and you earn a commission every time someone else orders it. These terms add to our general terms.
Sharing a design
- You need an account to share. A shared design goes through our moderation checks before it appears in the gallery.
- Only share designs you’re allowed to share: no other people’s trademarks, logos, characters or likenesses (see section 4 of the terms).
- While a design is shared, you allow us, worldwide and without exclusivity, to show it on UglySweater.shop and in our marketing (including pictures of AI models wearing it), to sell it as knitted sweaters, and to let other people remix it into designs of their own.
- You can withdraw a design at any time. It then leaves the gallery and can’t be ordered or remixed any more; orders and remixes made before stay as they are.
Commissions
- You earn 10% of the sweater price (excluding tax and shipping) each time someone else orders your design.
- When someone remixes your design and their remix is ordered, you earn 5% and the remix’s creator earns 10%. An untouched copy of your design counts as yours: you earn the full 10%.
- You don’t earn commission on your own orders.
- Commissions are held for 30 days after payment, to cover returns. If an order is refunded, its commission is cancelled; if it was already paid out, it is deducted from your next payout.
Payouts
- Payouts go through Stripe Connect. To get paid, connect a Stripe account from your dashboard; Stripe will ask for your identity and bank details.
- We pay out available commissions weekly once your balance reaches $25.
- You are responsible for any taxes on your earnings. Stripe may ask for tax information.
- Commissions on a design that is taken down (for example after a copyright notice) are paused until the matter is settled, and may be cancelled if the design broke these terms. We may also withhold commissions in cases of fraud.
Changes
We may change commission rates or these terms. We’ll tell creators by email before a change takes effect; commissions already earned keep their rate.
