Terms of sale and use

These terms apply when you use UglySweater.shop to design a sweater, share it in the gallery, or order one. UglySweater.shop is run by Matthias Van Gorp Kft. (“we”, “us”); our details are on the contact page. By using the site or placing an order you agree to these terms, together with our returns policy and privacy policy.

1. What we do

You describe a sweater in a chat. An AI image model draws it, and we turn the drawing into a knitting pattern using only the yarns you picked (four, or two for a two-tone sweater). We show you a knitted preview, a flat mockup and, if you like, an AI picture of you or one of our AI models wearing it. When you order, the sweater is knitted to order and shipped by our production partner.

2. Accounts and free designs

  • You need to be at least 16 to create an account and at least 18 (or have a parent’s permission) to order.
  • Keep your login details to yourself; you are responsible for what happens in your account.
  • Designing is free up to a limit (currently 20 designs without an account and 40 a day with one). We may change these limits.

3. Your designs and content

  • You keep whatever rights you have in what you give us: your words, photos and ideas.
  • You let us use that content, and the drawings and patterns made from it, to run the service: to generate, store and show your designs to you, to produce your orders and, if you share a design in the gallery, to show and sell it as described in the creator terms.
  • AI drawings are made fresh for each request, but they are not guaranteed to be unique: someone else may end up with a similar design.
  • Pictures of people wearing a sweater, whether made from your photo or showing one of our AI models, are AI-generated illustrations. The knitted close-up is the reference for what gets knitted.

4. What you may not design

Don’t use the service for designs that include other people’s trademarks, logos, brands or characters, or real people’s likenesses, without permission. No hateful, harassing, violent or sexually explicit content (cheeky is fine, nudity and sex acts are not), and no content that is illegal where you or the recipient live. Only upload photos of yourself, or of people who agreed. We check prompts, designs and pictures automatically and by hand, and we may refuse a request, remove a design from the gallery, cancel an order (with a full refund) or close an account that breaks these rules. To report a copyright problem, use our DMCA form.

5. Prices and payment

  • A sweater costs, depending on where it ships:
    • United States: $89 (+$4 2XL, +$6 3XL), plus sales tax.
    • Europe (EU): €105 (+€5 2XL, +€7 3XL), incl. VAT.
    • Norway: €105 (+€5 2XL, +€7 3XL), incl. VAT.
    US prices are in US dollars and sales tax is added at checkout. EU and Norway prices are in euros and include VAT. Shipping costs are shown at checkout before you pay.
  • Payment is handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full card details.
  • Your order is accepted once your payment goes through and we confirm it by email. If we can’t produce an order (for example because it breaks section 4 or our production partner can’t make it), we cancel it and refund you in full.

6. Production and delivery

  • Every sweater is knitted to order from your design. We ship to the United States and to the 27 countries of the European Union, and to Norway.
  • Ships across the US in about two weeks (US). Ships to most of the EU in one to three weeks (EU). Ships to Norway in one to three weeks (NO). Delivery dates are estimates, not guarantees; around the holidays, order early.
  • Please check your shipping address. If a parcel comes back because the address was wrong, we can resend it at your cost.

7. What you receive

A knitted jacquard sweater in the yarns you chose. Knitting is coarser than a screen: tiny details are simplified (the knitted preview shows how), and yarn colours can look slightly different from your screen. 8. Liability

We do our best to keep the site running and your orders on time, but the site is provided as it is. As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses, and our total liability for an order is limited to what you paid for it. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or your statutory rights as a consumer.

9. Changes

We may update these terms. The version on this page when you place an order applies to that order.

10. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of Hungary. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you may bring a claim there. Please contact us first at info@uglysweater.shop; most problems are solved quickly that way.
